This month we proudly celebrate 30 years of service to Texas businesses.
While we celebrate this incredible milestone, we also want to take a pause and pay tribute to the history of our company, which actually began over 50 years ago, when our grandfather, Lou Scantland, began working for 3M in 1958. He went on to found ElectroCopy in 1960, the first permanent copy dealership in America, and in 1969, created the first-ever maintenance agreement that combined service, parts, supplies, & toner, known as the cost-per-click model, and still widely used in our industry today. Lou was a part of several partnerships along the way, and DOCUmation’s corporate history began in 1990 with the founding of Xerographic Copier Services (XCS) in San Antonio, which later changed its name to DOCUmation when Lou purchased a majority stake in XCS. Thus began the building of the DOCUmation brand and the continuation of Lou’s legacy. Over the years, we have expanded to seven branches (so far) across our great state and now service over 2,000 customers a year. We don’t plan on stopping.
DOCUmation is a product of hard work, passion for people, and commitment to the community. We know that our success is only because of the incredible team we have built, and the community that has supported us along the way, our DOCUfamily. We believe that exceptional service is at the heart of who we are and is what has allowed us to successfully grow year after year. We are in the business of service. Not just customer service as many businesses are, but also team service and community service. It is our mantra and we call it “Service That Serves”. What does that mean? It means we are here to serve our team by fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and fun. By working with the utmost character and providing a workplace that our team wants to come to each and every day. When we pour into our team that way, we believe it enables us, as a company, to serve our customers well. When our people are happy, our customers are happy. And by providing that exceptional service to our customers, we can then come full circle, giving back and pouring into the communities in which we are truly blessed to serve. That’s Service That Serves. Our mission is, and always has been, about service. That will never change.
When our grandfather entered the industry, we don’t think he imagined the legacy he was building. Thank you for being a part of his legacy, of our family’s legacy. We are forever grateful to be of service to you, your businesses, and our community. For three generations, our family’s business has operated with a steadfast commitment to exceptional service, and we commit to staying true to that in our next 30 years and beyond
